Everitt Holiday Party
It was a packed house last night as Everitt Design hosted their first ever holiday party. The party offered the required motivation and forced us to find time to do some major cleaning. It is doubtful that the office will ever look as good again! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped make this year a success. We wish you a happy holiday season and all the best for the new year.

Everitt Design Facelift Continued

Everitt Design Facelift
Everitt Design is getting a facelift, or should I say rooflift. The haunted look and feel of our building will soon begin to dissipate. The old, inefficient roof is coming off, shingles, deck, insulation and all. Its been difficult to concentrate with all the pounding, Titus' pacing, and the niggling fear that any minute a foot or entire body may come crashing down into the office.
A tree snuggled up to the back of the building with branches that scratch against the windows much like nails on a chalk board also needs to come down. I can't say that I'll miss the screeching scratching sounds on windy days. The office fills with the smell of chainsaw as the tree is slowly brought down, quite a fascinating process.

One of the contractors we love working with, Renovations
Plus, is managing the project. They are efficient, detail oriented, and super
nice and easy to work with. Once the spray foam insulation and new roof are on,
the front porch will be straightened out and fixed, a new light will replace
the broken one, and a fresh coat of paint applied. Check back for more photos of the transformation from tired and slightly haunted looking to fresh and inviting.

Hexagon Carpet Tile
One of our favorite reps, Blayne from Shaw, came in the other day to show us a new product. We like Blayne first of all because of the fantastic Shaw products but also because he brings in coffee :) Shaw, always a leader in design and colour has come out with new line of hexagon shaped carpet tile! "Does this not create more waste?" you might ask. The answer: "NO!" In fact, there is apparently less waste for install and because of Shaw's fabulous cradle to cradle manufacturing system, fiber and backing goes right back into the production process. As always, the colours and textures are cutting edge. We can't wait to be able to use this product in a project! Check out the photos below or go to the the Shaw Contract website for more installation photos of Plane Hexagon, Linear Shift Hexagon, Linear Hexagon and Bevel Hexagon and let us know what you think!

Apartment revitalization
These two apartment blocks are in desperate need of some tlc, both inside and out. The proposal: open up the kitchen to contemporize the layout, replace the kitchen and washroom millwork and fixtures and new finishes throughout the suites and public spaces. The exterior also requires work as it no longer functions properly. The plan is to salvage tyndall stone to clad the lower portion if possible (shown in the green colour scheme) and add interest with an accent stucco colour. Furthermore, the entrances into the apartment buildings are tiny, with no interior vestibule in which to wait to be buzzed into the building. Therefore, if budget allows, an entrance linking the two buildings is to be added.
Option 1: green colour scheme with salvaged tyndall stone |
Option 2: orange colour scheme with metal instead of stone if the stone can not be salvaged. |
